Why I Wrote: Adam & Eve

Our overall mission with Eighty Unplugged is to create a platform for songwriters to be more than just background music. There is a beautiful vulnerability in songwriters that is easy to overlook if you forget the real human heart behind the beat. To expand the platform, we are introducing a new series: “Why I Wrote…”

Like Adam and Eve, Babe…

The first episode features my song “Adam & Eve.” This song is a fantasy—a romanticised reference to Adam and Eve. I wrote it while experiencing romance for the first time in my life, and as I tend to do when I write, I took all my thoughts to their most intense conclusions. This song was inspired by feelings of love, temptation, and lust.

    Flesh of my Flesh

    Bone of my Bone

    In the gates of eden

    One man and woman alone

    I am unashamed

For your arms I was made

    All weakness embraced

    I feel only purity

    Like Adam and Eve, Babe

    You and Me, Babe

    Like Adam and Eve, Babe

    Bone of my bone

    With good and evil unknown

    And ignorance to loose

    Happy with our eyes closed

Tempted with the fruit of affection

With a known consequence in the action

Throw away our care, let it happen

Forget the garden and the whole situation

    You and Me, Babe
